S.A.
A single mother with very low income and two boys - now gaining control.

S.A. came to the U.S. from South America with his brother, mother and father. His father abandoned the family. The mother was without support and no English skills. The kids soon learned to disrespect authority. By placing them in a disciplined karate school and using the Sidekick scholarship program S.A. and his brother soon turned around and became obedient children and good students. They're still struggling for support, but they're not subject to the influence of street kids.
A child who at first you couldn't turn your back on. Now a leader!

If you wanted to find a child who was always in trouble every time your back was turned, it was JMM. A prankster for sure, but bright and with great potential. JMM has been training now for 10 years, is a 3rd degree black belt. He's a certified assistant instructor and has earned the respect of the other students and staff. The prankster is now a winner.

J.M.M.

D.S.
D.S. suffers from Down's Syndrome and has a rather low I.Q. Like many other special needs children he was excluded from joining other children in their activities. His attention span and focus has improved dramatically!
