David Alvas - President, Director
David Alvas began training in Tang Soo Do when he was four years old. He received his 1st degree Midnight Blue Belt at the age of thirteen, when he began assisting teaching. His dedication to the art led him to become a professional full-time instructor and manager for Master Pryor in late 2003, one year after he received his 3rd degree. Because of his dedication to the growth of Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan in South Florida, the Grand Master, H.C. Hwang, recognized his achievements with a National award at the 2006 National Championships. Alvas, Sa Bom Nim is also a Certified Personal Trainer and Conditioning Coach. He tested and passed for the rank of 4th Dan (Master) in January 2007, and the rank of 5th Dan in January 2012. Masters David & Jillian Alvas run USK Karate Academy together to better promote a family environment for their students and their son. Mr. Alvas was elected as the President of the Sidekick Foundation in January 2012 based on his passionate support and sacrifices for children in need.

Gerald Gluck, Ph.D. – Vice President,  Director
Licensed marriage and family therapist with over 20 years of clinical experience. Former full time faculty member at Montclair State University, Rutgers University, New Jersey Institute of Technology. Published in academic journals.  Dr. Gluck was a martial arts student and all his children are black belts.

Jennifer Laufgas, Esq. B.A., J.D. – Secretary - Director
Ms. Laufgas is a 2nd degree Black Belt and certified instrutor. She serves a member of a law firm in Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Carolyn Henry, B.A. – Treasurer, Director
Retired, former comptroller for several large corporations in Arizona and Hawaii

Rev. David Peoples – Director
Minister to a congregation in an Episcopal Church in Central Florida, Rev. Peoples and his daughter are martial arts students.

Philip Bartolacci, B.A. - Director
7th Degree Black Belt, Certified Master Instructor.  Master Bartolacci is president of one of the nation's oldest, largest, private, not-for-profit martial arts associations. Master Bartolacci previously ran Ki Concepts as a full-time martial arts studio in Alpharetta Georgia.

Barry Streit, M.D., Director
Dr. Streit is a 1st degree black belt, along with three of his children. Dr. Streit is an internist and a pulmonologist.

Courntey Steiger - Student Director
Legal Assistant in a law firm in Ft. Lauderdale, Ms. Steiger is a 2nd Degree Black Belt, Currently attending Florida Atlantic University and planning to go to law school
